WATER SAFETY & CLARITY UPDATE – FREE CHLORINE CONVERSION

As part of the Free Chlorine Maintenance Conversion on the west side of town, some residents may notice temporary changes in water taste, smell, or color — including yellow, reddish, or rust-colored water. We want to reassure you:

The water remains safe to drink and use.
There is NO boil water notice in effect.
Chlorine levels are being tested daily and remain well within all Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) safety standards.

Temporary discoloration is caused by harmless mineral buildup (like iron) being stirred up during system flushing — this is a normal part of the process.

City crews are actively flushing hydrants throughout the affected area to help clear the system and maintain high water quality.

If you experience discolored water, run your cold water tap for several minutes. If it doesn’t clear, please contact Public Works at 903-645-4185 so we can assist.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work to ensure a clean, safe, and reliable water system for our community.
