Retirement

  • Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)
  • Employee Contribution Rate: 5%
  • City matches employee’s contributions at 1.5 to 1 ratio
  • Employees are fully vested after five years of employment
  • Employees are eligible to retire at any age with 20 years of service

Health Insurance 

  • BlueCross BlueShield of Texas High Deductible health plan
  • Health Plan effective the first of the month following 1 full month of employment
  • City pays the employee only premium
  • Optional dependent coverage is available 
  • City pays employee only dental coverage

Vision Insurance

  • Effective the first of the month following 1 full month of employment
  • City pays the employee only premium
  • Optional dependent coverage is available

Holidays

Sixteen paid holidays per year as follows:

  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • MLK Day
  • President's Day
  • Good Friday (Friday before Easter)
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day (November 11 or designated day)
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Thanksgiving Friday
  • Christmas Eve Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Christmas Bonus Day (to be determined yearly)
  • Floating Holiday (upon written request)

Vacation

Full time employees who have been employed for one (1) full year:

Vacation time granted on anniversary date each year:

  • 1-10 years of service =80 hours/ 10 days- vacation time
  • 10-20 years of service =120 hours/ 15 days- vacation time
  • 20+ years of service = 160 hours/ 20 days- vacation time

Sick Leave

  • Shall not be granted to an employee during the first three (3) months of employment
  • Employees earn 12 days per year
  • If unused, sick leave may carry forward each year on the employee’s anniversary date up to a maximum of 30 days.
  • Sick leave is for the employee’s personal illness, or to care for an immediate family member (employee’s parent, current spouse, and children/stepchildren)

Bereavement Leave

  • For death of a family member (spouse, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent, sibling, mother or father-in-law, brother or sister-in-law, daughter or son-in-law, grandparents, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew.)
  • Shall not be granted to an employee during the first month of employment
  • Six (6) days per year (does not carry forward if not used)
