Water and Sewer Rate Increase
In response to a recent adjustment in water rates as implemented by the Northeast Texas Water District, the source from which the City of Daingerfield procures its water supply, the City Council during the latest City Council Meeting, considered these circumstances, and a decision was reached to adjust the water and sewer rates applicable to the residents of Daingerfield. This alteration is intended to offset the augmented financial burden faced by the City as a consequence of the escalated costs established by the Northeast Texas Water District.
Notably, the adjustment in rates that will affect residents stands at 10.10%, which is lower than the rates levied upon the City by the Northeast Texas Water District. It's crucial to clarify that this rate modification is not aimed at generating supplementary revenue for the City. Rather, its purpose is to alleviate the financial burden stemming from the District's rate increase, while simultaneously striving to ensure that the impact on residents is kept as reasonable as possible.
This rate adjustment is scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2023. Citizens are encourged to contact City Hall at 903-645-3906 for clarification or questions.
